It’s a Book, Lane Smith

2010/09/15

Although this book is formatted like a children’s picture book, a quick glance at the title page may indicate otherwise. The dialogue is between a monkey who is trying to read a book, and a donkey which is convinced that the boring old book needs some sort of technology to make it interesting. Librarians and other book-lovers will sympathize with the monkey who is visibly annoyed by the donkey’s attempts to one-up him with electronic features and reinterpretations of the text, especially when the donkey takes a page from the monkey’s book and translates it into texting. And the last line of the story will cause a chuckle.

This is a cute book to have on hand when your technology-laden friends attempt to convince you of the superiority of their gadgets. It’s not necessarily a picture book for children, but rather those who are old enough to appreciate its humor.
